A serial entrepreneur and railway domain expert, Sreenivasa Rao Ganapa, has many feathers on his cap. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Rao worked in various capacities with the Indian Railways. He was the Joint Director & Head of the Southern Region Signalling & Communications Division of RDSO, Indian Railways.
Sreenivasa Rao is a Serial Entrepreneur since 2000. He had built one company from scratch whose turnover exceeded Rs.100Crs. The second company he built had a turnover in excess of Rs.40Crs. He raised seed investments and also Private Equity of Rs.50Crs.
These companies worked for clients across the globe including London Underground Metro, Austrian Rail Roads, KTMB (Malaysian Railways), Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Delhi Metro, and many others.
He was with the Indian Railway Services (IRS) prior to becoming an entrepreneur. Rao worked in various capacities for the Indian Railways. He was Joint Director & Head of the Southern Region /Signalling & Communications Division of RDSO, Indian Railways.
The first Stand Alone Solid State Interlocking (popularly known as Electronic Interlocking) of the Indian Railway was commissioned under his guidance and he is recognized as the first railway officer in India to carry out the design verification, testing, and commissioning of such a system. The unit installed by him has been in operation for over 25 years now.
The Indian Railways deputed Rao to KTMB (Malaysian Railways) twice to support SSI projects.
Prior to joining IRS (Indian Railway Services), he worked as an R&D Engineer in BEL (Bharat Electronics Limited), Bangalore, India and also as Scientist C in SAMEER (Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research), Government of India, Chennai, India.
He obtained the Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications in 1985 from Andhra University College of Engineering and the Master of Technology in Microwave Engineering in 1987 from IIT-BHU.
